For Sale

In between building custom guitars for my clients, I like to reserve some time for building guitars "on spec." I make these to please myself; often in order to try out some new wood, or process, or a design idea. I also build "spec" guitars to show at festivals or exhibitions. A few get held back as demonstrators, or in order to experiment with tweaks and upgrades, or just so I can get to know them better and hear them as they age. When I am ready to sell these guitars, I either place them with a few selected retailers, or put them up on this page.

These guitars have the advantage of being immediately available. Before I ship, I need to have the full purchase price plus the shipping cost. I offer a three day trial period with a guarantee of satisfaction. The only risk to a buyer is the cost of round-trip shipping.

I also have new line of guitars I will be offering on this page, that I call the Workingman's Klepper. These guitars have their trim pared down from that of my standard base model. They use woods that may have purely cosmetic flaws or that are not in strong demand. This will never be a downgrade in terms of sound quality, or the workmanship that I put into them. For example I may use plainer sets of woods that usually are expected to show a lot of curly figure, such as koa and walnut. I will keep the price on the Workingman's Klepper at $5000. These guitars may also be bought by custom order, but options are very limited; they cannot be built upon as if they were a base model. The first Workingman's Klepper is a 14-fret 00 size made from quartersawn koa (not curly) and AAA western red cedar, with a mahogany neck. It is in the finishing process and will appear on this page soon.
